DIN Flanged Ball Valve 3-WAY Full Bore Stainless Steel

The DIN Flanged Ball Valve 3-WAY Full Bore Stainless Steel provides selectable flow paths for industrial systems requiring diversion, changeover or connection between multiple pipeline branches. L-port and T-port ball configurations allow the valve to be matched to the intended routing sequence. Available from DN15 to DN100 in PN16, it combines stainless steel construction, soft seating and a direct actuator mounting pad for manual or automated operation.

Key Features

  • Three-Port Flow Routing: A rotating ball connects selected ports within one assembly, helping simplify piping arrangements that require switching between alternative supply or discharge paths.
  • L-Port and T-Port Options: Different internal passages support different connection sequences. Select the ball configuration using an approved flow diagram showing every required operating position.
  • Full-Bore Construction: The generously sized passage helps limit flow restriction. Actual pressure loss depends on the selected route, particularly where the fluid changes direction through the valve.
  • Direct Actuator Mounting: An ISO 5211 mounting interface supports automation. Actuator travel, position feedback and mechanical stops should match the specified flow sequence.

Understanding the Flow Configurations

  • L-Port: An angled passage connects two ports at a time. This arrangement is commonly used to select between two alternative routes through a designated common connection. Confirm port orientation and switching behaviour against the supplied drawing.
  • T-Port: A T-shaped passage can connect selected pairs of ports or all three ports, depending on ball position and construction. It can support distribution or combining duties where the connected fluids and system pressures are compatible.

A three-way designation does not establish an all-ports-closed position. Confirm isolation requirements, intermediate connections during rotation and permitted flow directions before ordering. For duties requiring controlled mixing ratios, evaluate the valve’s flow characteristics and control arrangement separately.

Materials and Construction

  • Body and Bonnet: Listed stainless steel options include CF8, CF8M and CF3M.
  • Ball, Stem and Flanged End Components: Stainless steel.
  • Seats: PTFE or RPTFE, according to configuration.
  • Body and Bonnet Gaskets: PTFE.
  • Stem Sealing Components: The material schedule lists an RPTFE stem seal, Viton O-ring and graphite packing.
  • Anti-Static Device: Stainless steel.

Typical Applications

  • Process-Line Changeover: Directing a compatible fluid toward alternative tanks, equipment branches or process destinations.
  • Water Treatment Packages: Selecting flow routes through treatment equipment, bypass branches or circulation circuits.
  • Heating and Cooling Systems: Distribution or combining duties where the port arrangement, temperature and hydraulic conditions meet system requirements.
  • Chemical Transfer Equipment: Routing compatible chemicals after checking concentration, contaminants and all wetted materials.
  • Industrial Utility Systems: Selected air, gas, steam and liquid services within the confirmed operating limits.
  • Marine Auxiliary Installations: Flow selection in compatible shipboard systems, subject to project specifications and applicable classification requirements.

Selection and Operating Considerations

Provide a flow diagram identifying the inlet, outlets, normal operating position and required connections at each stage. Where temporary communication between branches could affect the process, review the complete switching sequence rather than only the end positions.

Confirm pressure at each port, maximum differential pressure and the required flow capacity for every route. The PN16 designation should be assessed together with the complete valve’s pressure–temperature limits.

For steam or hot-fluid duties, verify the suitability of seats, O-rings, packing and gaskets. Chemical and chloride-bearing services require material assessment at the actual concentration and temperature.

Support and align all connected pipework to avoid excessive loads on the valve. Before commissioning an automated assembly, verify that actuator movement and position indication correspond to the approved flow diagram.
