Long Butt Welded Ball Valve 3-PC Stainless Steel

The Long Butt-Welded Ball Valve 3-PC Stainless Steel combines extended welding ends with a serviceable central assembly for industrial piping installations. The additional end length creates more separation between the weld location and the valve’s seating region, supporting welding access and heat-control planning. Its full-bore passage and rotary operating mechanism provide practical isolation for compatible process and utility fluids.

Key Features

  • Extended Butt-Weld Ends: The longer connections provide additional working space around the weld joint. Their separation from the central body can help manage heat transfer during installation, subject to the approved welding procedure.
  • Three-Piece Construction: A central housing connects to two end sections, providing access to the ball, seats and joint seals during maintenance. Removal of the centre section while the welded ends remain installed depends on the confirmed design and available clearance.
  • Full-Bore Passage: The open ball provides a relatively direct flow path, helping limit obstruction and pressure loss across equipment connections.
  • Quarter-Turn Operation: A 90-degree rotation changes the valve between open and closed positions, allowing convenient local isolation.
  • Actuator Mounting: An ISO 5211 top flange supports actuator integration after verification of operating torque, stem coupling, differential pressure and cycling requirements.
  • Published Design References: Specifications identify ASME B16.34 and BS 5351 for design, with ASME B16.25 and EN 12627 referenced for welding ends.

Materials and Construction

  • Body, End Caps and Ball: Listed stainless steel options include CF8, CF8M and CF3M.
  • Stem: Stainless steel.
  • Seats: PTFE.
  • Joint Gaskets, Thrust Washer and Stem Packing: PTFE.
  • Gland Nut, Locking Device, Handle and Listed Fasteners: Stainless steel.
  • Handle Cover: Plastic.

Confirm individual component grades and the weld-end material specification before ordering. Corrosion assessment should include the operating fluid, contaminants, cleaning chemicals and exposure temperature.

Typical Applications

  • Welded Process Systems: Pipeline isolation where extended end connections assist fabrication and welding access.
  • Pump and Heat-Exchanger Packages: Equipment connections requiring welded joints and access for future seal maintenance.
  • Chemical Processing: Selected services supported by a confirmed stainless steel grade and sealing-material assessment.
  • Industrial Water Circuits: Compatible cooling-water, process-water and utility-water installations.
  • Air and Gas Pipework: Selected duties within the verified operating limits and project specifications.
  • Steam and Condensate Lines: Applications covered by a confirmed steam-service pressure–temperature rating.

Welding and Installation Planning

Match the welding ends to the connected pipe’s material, outside diameter, wall thickness and required joint preparation. Confirm the overall installation length and space needed for welding equipment, body-bolt removal and servicing.

Extended ends can assist heat management, but the installation procedure must still protect PTFE components from excessive temperature. Confirm whether welding with the valve assembled is permitted for the supplied configuration. Where disassembly is required, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for removing and protecting the central assembly.

Use a qualified welding procedure with appropriate alignment, heat-input control and internal shielding where specified. Assess any post-weld heat treatment against the complete valve construction.

After welding, allow components to cool and remove debris before reassembly or commissioning. Apply the specified bolt-tightening sequence and torque, then verify operation and leakage performance.

Pressure and Operating Conditions

The published range is DN15–DN100, with 1200 WOG listed for DN15–DN40 and 1000 WOG for DN50–DN100. Confirm the applicable pressure–temperature limits for the ordered configuration.

WOG ratings should not be used as steam ratings. Hot-fluid applications require assessment of the seats, packing and joint seals alongside the metallic components.

Use the valve primarily for on/off operation. Sustained throttling can accelerate seat wear, while abrasive or crystallizing fluids require additional assessment. Support the pipework so that welding distortion, misalignment or thermal movement does not impose excessive loads on the assembly.
