DIN Flanged Ball Valve 3-PC Stainless Steel

The DIN Flanged Ball Valve 3-PC Stainless Steel provides full-bore isolation for process installations where access to internal components is an important maintenance consideration. Its three-section construction combines a central valve body with two flanged end connections, allowing the assembly to be dismantled according to the approved servicing procedure. Stainless steel components and PTFE sealing elements support use with compatible industrial fluids, while quarter-turn operation enables convenient manual or automated shut-off.

Key Features

  • Three-Piece Serviceable Construction: Separate body and end sections provide access to the ball, seats and joint seals during maintenance. Confirm the disassembly method and required clearance when planning whether the central section can be removed while the end connections remain installed.
  • Full-Bore Flow Passage: The open ball presents a relatively direct path through the valve, helping reduce obstruction and pressure loss across equipment isolation points.
  • Quarter-Turn Operation: A 90-degree rotation opens or closes the passage, supporting routine isolation of process lines and equipment.
  • PTFE Seating and Sealing: Soft seats establish the closing interface around the ball. Joint gaskets and stem packing provide separate seals at the body connections and operating stem.
  • Actuator Mounting Interface: An ISO 5211 top flange supports automation after confirmation of actuator torque, stem coupling and operating requirements.
  • Flanged Pipeline Connections: Published specifications reference EN 1983 for design, EN 558-1 for face-to-face dimensions and EN 1092-1 for flanged ends.

Materials and Construction

  • Body and End Sections: Listed material options include CF8, CF8M, CF3M and 2205.
  • Ball and Stem: Stainless steel.
  • Ball Seats: PTFE.
  • Joint Gaskets, Thrust Washer and Stem Packing: PTFE.
  • Gland Nut, Locking Device, Handle and Listed Fasteners: Stainless steel.
  • Handle Cover: Plastic.

Specify the body, ball and stem grades individually. For the listed 2205 option, confirm the applicable casting designation and material standard.

Typical Applications

  • Chemical Processing Equipment: Isolation of compatible process liquids where material selection and access for scheduled maintenance are important.
  • Industrial Utility Networks: Selected air, gas and liquid duties within the verified operating limits.
  • Steam and Condensate Installations: Suitable for consideration only after confirming the complete valve’s pressure–temperature rating and sealing-material suitability.
  • Water Treatment and Process-Water Systems: Compatible filtration, circulation and equipment connections requiring stainless steel construction.
  • Pump and Heat-Exchanger Packages: Local shut-off where access to seats and seals supports maintenance planning.
  • Marine Auxiliary Pipework: Selected shipboard services meeting the project’s material, installation and classification requirements.

Maintenance and Installation Planning

The three-piece arrangement is particularly relevant where periodic inspection or seal replacement forms part of the maintenance programme. Provide clearance for body-bolt removal, separation of the sections and handling of the internal assembly.

Before reassembly, inspect the ball, stem and sealing-contact surfaces for corrosion, scoring or wear. Fit the specified replacement seals and follow the manufacturer’s bolt-tightening sequence and torque requirements. Check operation and leakage performance before returning the valve to service.

Pipework should be aligned and supported so that the valve does not carry excessive installation loads. Replacement projects also require confirmation of flange details, face-to-face length and operating clearance.

Pressure, Temperature and Fluid Compatibility

The published size range is DN15–DN100, with PN40 listed for DN15–DN50 and PN16 for DN65–DN100.

Permissible working conditions depend on the complete assembly. PTFE seat and seal limits must be considered when assessing hot fluids, steam or thermal cycling. Confirm both operating temperature and maximum differential pressure rather than relying on the body material or nominal pressure designation alone.

For chemical service, review concentration, contaminants and cleaning agents against every wetted material. Chloride-bearing fluids require particular attention to pitting, crevice corrosion and temperature-dependent corrosion risks.

This valve is primarily intended for on/off isolation. Prolonged throttling can reduce seat life, and automated liquid systems should be assessed for pressure surges when selecting closing times.
