DIN Flanged Globe Valve Ductile Iron

The DIN flanged ductile iron globe valve provides isolation in compatible marine and industrial piping systems. Its ductile iron body combines mechanical strength and toughness with flanged connections for installation, maintenance and replacement.

The globe valve mechanism moves a disc towards or away from its seat to open or close the flow passage. A suitable regulating disc can also provide manual flow adjustment, making the design relevant to systems requiring both isolation and controlled changes in flow.

A standard stop disc, regulating disc and screw-down non-return disc provide different functions. Specify the required arrangement when ordering; an ordinary globe stop valve does not automatically prevent reverse flow.

Key Features

  • Ductile Iron Body Construction: The spheroidal graphite structure of ductile iron provides strength and toughness for pressure-containing components. The specified grade should be selected according to the operating conditions and project requirements.
  • Positive Closing Action: The stem transmits operating force to bring the disc into contact with the seat. Shut-off performance depends on the seating materials, surface condition and specified leakage acceptance criteria.
  • Flow Regulation with Suitable Trim: A regulating disc allows progressive adjustment of the flow passage. Continuous throttling duties require assessment of flow capacity, differential pressure and the potential for cavitation or seat erosion.
  • DIN Flanged Connections: Flanged ends connect to compatible piping and equipment and allow valve removal during maintenance. Flange drilling, sealing faces and pressure designations should match the mating connections.
  • Material Selection by Component: The ductile iron body can be combined with internal materials selected for the intended fluid and operating conditions. Disc, seat and stem specifications are particularly important when evaluating corrosion and wear resistance.
  • Maintenance Access: The bonnet assembly provides access to internal components according to the confirmed construction and maintenance instructions. Adequate clearance should be provided for operation, inspection and servicing.

Applications

  • Marine and Shipbuilding: An option for shipboard auxiliary and utility piping requiring ductile iron construction and DIN flanged connections. Selection should account for the intended duty and applicable classification requirements.
  • Freshwater Distribution: Suitable for consideration in freshwater isolation and distribution systems. Drinking-water applications require separate confirmation of material suitability, coatings and applicable approvals.
  • Cooling Water Systems: Can be considered for compatible freshwater or seawater cooling circuits after checking the internal materials, corrosion protection, flow velocity and available system pressure.
  • Industrial Utility Piping: Applicable to compatible water and other utility services where the complete valve’s pressure–temperature rating and material specification meet the operating requirements.
  • Selected Oil, Steam and Condensate Services: May be considered where the body grade, trim, packing and gaskets are approved for the specific fluid and operating conditions.
  • Ship Repair and Valve Replacement: An option for replacement projects where the existing valve’s function, flange details, face-to-face length and operating clearances can be matched.

Materials and Construction

  • Body: The ductile iron body forms the main pressure boundary and internal flow passage. The exact material grade should be identified in the purchase specification; different ductile iron grades should not be treated as automatically interchangeable.
  • Bonnet: Supports the stem assembly and closes the upper body opening. The bonnet material, joint design, gasket and fasteners should follow the approved construction drawing.
  • Disc and Seat: Form the internal shut-off interface. Bronze and stainless steel are used in comparable valve designs, but the supplied materials and disc construction must be confirmed for each size and service.
  • Stem: Transfers operating movement and closing force to the disc. Its material should provide suitable mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and resistance to wear at the operating threads.
  • Stem Packing and Bonnet Gasket: Limit external leakage around the stem and bonnet joint. Sealing materials should be selected for compatibility with the fluid, pressure, temperature and operating frequency.
  • Protective Coating: Provides surface protection for exposed iron components. Internal coating requirements should be specified separately, particularly for seawater or other corrosive services.
