API 602 Flanged Globe Valve Stainless Steel Class 150

The API 602 flanged stainless steel globe valve, Class 150, provides isolation for compatible industrial process and utility piping. Its stainless steel body and flanged connections suit applications where corrosion resistance, connection integrity and maintenance access are important.

The globe valve mechanism moves a disc towards or away from its seat to close or open the flow passage. Where a suitable regulating disc is specified, the valve can also support manual flow adjustment. Selection should consider the fluid, operating conditions, required flow capacity and differential pressure.

Key Features

  • Stainless Steel Body Construction: Provides corrosion resistance in compatible process environments. The exact stainless steel grade should be selected according to fluid composition, concentration, temperature and potential contaminants.
  • API 602 Design Reference: The product’s API 602 designation provides a reference for the applicable valve design and construction requirements. The standard edition, valve configuration and documentation requirements should be identified in the purchase specification.
  • Class 150 Pressure Designation: Allows selection within a defined pressure–temperature rating system. The permissible working pressure depends on the material grade, operating temperature and applicable rating table.
  • Flanged End Connections: Provide detachable connections to compatible piping and equipment. Flange dimensions, facing, surface finish, gaskets and bolting should match the installation requirements.
  • Stem-Operated Closing Action: The stem transfers operating force to bring the disc into contact with the seat. Shut-off performance depends on the seating design, material condition and specified leakage acceptance criteria.
  • Flow Adjustment with Suitable Trim: A regulating disc can provide progressive changes to the flow passage. Continuous throttling requires assessment of pressure drop, flow velocity and the potential for cavitation, noise or erosion.

Applications

  • Chemical Processing: An option for compatible chemical transfer and auxiliary process lines where the selected stainless steel grade and sealing materials meet the fluid requirements.
  • Petrochemical and Oil and Gas Facilities: Can be considered for suitable process and utility duties within the valve’s pressure–temperature limits. Sour-service requirements, where applicable, should be specified separately.
  • Steam and Condensate Systems: Applicable to selected steam isolation and condensate duties after confirming temperature limits, seating materials, packing and gasket suitability.
  • Industrial Water Systems: Suitable for consideration in compatible process-water, cooling-water and utility-water piping. Water chemistry should be evaluated when selecting the stainless steel grade.
  • Equipment and Process Skids: A practical option for flanged equipment connections requiring local isolation and access for maintenance.
  • Plant Maintenance and Replacement: Can be considered where the existing valve’s pressure class, flange details, face-to-face dimensions and required function can be matched.

Materials and Construction

  • Body: The stainless steel body forms the main pressure boundary and internal flow passage. Its ASTM material grade and manufacturing form should be confirmed in the material specification.
  • Bonnet: Closes the upper body opening and supports the stem assembly. The bonnet joint design, material and sealing arrangement should follow the approved construction drawing.
  • Disc and Seat: Form the internal shut-off interface. Their materials, geometry and any specified hardfacing influence sealing performance, wear resistance and suitability for regulation.
  • Stem: Transmits operating movement and closing force to the disc. Stem material selection should consider corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and resistance to wear or galling.
  • Stem Packing: Limits external leakage around the moving stem. Packing material should match the fluid and temperature requirements; any fugitive-emission qualification should be confirmed separately.
  • Bonnet Joint Sealing: The joint sealing arrangement should suit the confirmed bonnet construction and operating conditions. Gasket materials and fasteners, where used, should follow the approved specification.
  • Flanges: Connect the valve to the pipeline. Confirm the applicable flange standard, pressure class and facing independently from the valve’s face-to-face dimensions.
